Seattles Matt Hasselbeck and Denvers Kyle Orton both played fairly well in the first half, but the Seahawks reserves pulled away in the second half. The Seahawks improved to 2-0 on the NFL preseason with a 27-13 win over the Denver Broncos. The Broncos dropped to 0-2 in their exhibition contests.
Hasselbeck completed 16 passes in 23 attempts including two touchdowns, though he was sacked three times. That was a big concern as he missed considerable time last season due to a back injury, but appeared to suffer no ill effects here. Still, the Seahawks starting QB said it was a traumatic experience:
“It’s just like I remembered- no fun. … I forgot how hard people hit in here. It’s just like a car accident. It’s part of the game … and it was probably good that it happened.”
After a rough opening weekend as the Denver Broncos starting QB, Kyle Orton recovered to post decent numbers. He completed 16 of his first 19 pass attempts including a touchdown before finishing 18 of 26 for 182 yards with a touchdown and an interception. After the game, Orton indicated that hes feeling confident about his play:
“I’ve got an awful lot of confidence right now, I really do. This is the best offense I’ve ever played with. This is the best talent around me that I’ve ever had. I just feel that my game right now is as good as it has ever been.
Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels was more reserved in his assessment:
“I think he acquitted himself fairly well. He played, you know, fairly well. There’s still obviously room for improvement. But he did what we feel he is capable of doing.
It would have been hard for Orton to have played worse than he did in the Broncos opening NFL preseason contest against the San Francisco 49ers last week, with three interceptions in his first three drives.
The Seahawks will continue their NFL preseason slate next Saturday against the Chiefs in Kansas City. Denver, meanwhile, will host Ortons old team”the Chicago Bears”and face their former starting QB Jay Cutler for the first time. Seattle will get the NFL regular season off and running on Sunday, September 13th as they host the St. Louis Rams. The Broncos will travel to Cincinnati for a game against the Bengals on the opening Sunday of the regular season.

So you have invited a few guests over for dinner and are now feeling shaky as to what is the easy way to go about arranging the complete thing? If yes, do not worry. All you need to do is to keep some important points under consideration before you actually start organizing the same. The simple known things to take care of for a dinner party are the menu, the dress code and the like. However, there are loads of other things that you have to pay attention to when trying to organize a good and appreciated dinner party. Let’s have a look at some.
The basic and the most important thing in this direction is to choose the menu first. Clearly a cocktail party has no signification if the menu isn’t appropriate enough. Do not make the error of adding to the list only your favorite food items. It is vital that you focus on the choice and preference of the invited guests first. Though you cannot include each food item that the guests relish, you can always go in for a menu that can satiate the taste buds of all alike and that too easily.
Do not become too creative with your menu. While a little experimentation is always appreciated, a soiree won’t be the occasion to do so. Easy and familiar dishes are more likely to satisfy your guests’ palate. Thus, a basic dish which tastes fantastic is bound to win over more folks than an engaging dish with an unfamiliar flavor.
Another crucial point to consider when organizing a dinner party is to keep the appetizers light. Your visitors should not be full before dinner is served – something that might happen with heavy starters. Dishes, as light as sauted veg would make the perfect starter. Stick to preparations like the regular pineapple and cheese or potato wedges. These are tasty without being too filling. The table at which your visitors are to be seated should be given due consideration.
The table should not only be clean but well adorned too. Bring out your best cutlery and confirm they are clean and sparkling to further lure your guests’ to eat. Place nicely folded tissues along the side of the table. Once you’ve finished placing the necessities, you can further embellish the table with ornamental kick knacks like balloons, candles or flowers. Try to keep the decorations as minimal as possible as they may cause irritation to your guests by getting in their way.
Playing the perfect background music to enhance your dinner is another way to impress your guests and also ensure their enjoyment. However,the choice of music must be made carefully and loud and jarring music should exactly be avoided. Ideally, you should play soft and relaxing music which appeals to all ears.
So, when all the things like a tasty food, perfect atmosphere and a good host comes together, nothing can screw up with the cocktail party. Simply keep all the formerly discussed instructions in mind and rest guaranteed that you are going to get showered with a lot of compliments.

Do you have this deep hatred to the bearded guy employed by the villainous woman (with an equally evil laugh) in movies? Here, the woman antagonist normally hires this bearded guy to investigate on something. And if the poor guy failed, he usually receives a tsunami of maledictions and beatings. Such an unfair and negative personation! Well, he is not as bad as what his beard connotes; he is actually none other than, our Private Investigator (P. I.). We ordinarily detest on these guys for siding with the villains, but in reality, the media is not just a narrator in explicating who a real P.I. is. So now, as our T.V. mates (a.k.a. family) chew their pop-corns and watch how the investigator finds relevant data, let us turn our eyes on the investigator himself. Let us cut the fuss and be investigators ourselves.
Investigators, unlike how the media portrays them, are not composed of a one-man band. They are commonly a squad of individuals that come from different fields of expertise. They include policemen, attorneys, medical practitioners, and forensic anthropologists. We are already rather familiar with the three professions enumerated so we will just concentrate on the last one, the forensic anthropologist. In a nut-shell, forensic anthropologists specialize on corpses. They are the gurus when it comes to that “cold” subject. They learned about these dead subjects not only in their classrooms but mostly in fields. That is why these investigators are not all used to sedentary and soporific lectures; they are more into action! This is the reason why brooding has been a pursuit to them; their experiences on the field let them breathe bravery everyday. At the end of the day, they may still look like typical guys but beware; their talent are just outrageously awesome!
Our Forensic Anthropologists do not work in an 8 am to 5 pm work period. As I have said earlier, their atelier is situated on where arcane corpses lay. Though they are not normally wearing a gentle-looking coat and tie, their work are not done in a haphazard manner. Their hands should always be in cogitation. One ataxic moment and boom! The valuable bone might be destroyed. So rummaging has been deleted from their dictionary; softness has been the mantra (so as not to break any necessary bone). After the stressful process of digging bones (if ever they are buried), the next step is careful scrutiny. The next steps are just equally perspiring: identification of age, race, stature, sex, and time interval of death. After this tiresome procedure, the piece of paper carrying all these details will now be handed to another member of the “band” (of Private Investigators).
If at this point you quit your research about private investigators and assume that their job is easy, then you are definitely left behind on our investigation. It is because you have not yet found of the “perks” of being one. And these “perks” include one of the following:
1) Work period is indefinite; it last till you see the body/bones;
2) Eureka moments are oftentimes preceded by sleepless nights on locations with bugging mosquitoes;
3) If things loose control, you are not exempted from occasional raids;
And finally, when you believe the job will not get dirtier, here is another perk:
4) Trauma may also attack you after being able to decipher how one was killed.
But then, you will also get desensitized. The latter is definitely a perk, as far as private investigation is concerned.
When you reach this seemingly end point of your investigation, then you are still left behind. It is because you have not seen them yet as an important being in real-life cases, as heroes. Yes, they also save the day with their braveness and helping hand. So the next time that we see an investigator (bearded or not) in TV, let us give them justice. They may not be around when the enemy is finally defeated, but in real life, they are heroes behind the curtains.
At this point, the case is closed.

Even when the games don’t count and the starters play little, if at all, the Baltimore Ravens hate to lose. Despite the Atlanta Falcons starting QB Matt Ryan playing only one series and with the Ravens third string signal caller John Beck playing the entire game it was apparent that Baltimore wanted the victory more. The former BYU standout threw for 232 yards and a pair of touchdown passes as the Ravens easily beat the Atlanta Falcons 20-3 at the Georgia Dome.
Sports enthusiasts who bet on NFL preseason action were rewarded for their investment in the Ravens, as Baltimore won outright as +3 road underdogs. Baltimore also finished the NFL preseason with a perfect 4-0 mark against the spread, while Atlanta finished 2-1-1 against the number. The 23 combined points went UNDER the posted total of 35. It was the Ravens third UNDER in four preseason games, while the Falcons split their O/U results at 2-2.
Ravens QB Beck hasnt had much playing time in the NFL since his ill fated rookie year in Miami in 2007. After the game, he expressed how pleased he was to showcase his skills for the entire game:
“He (coach John Harbaugh) told me a few days ago that I would play the whole game. It was very exciting to get to play the whole game.”
Beck made the most of his opportunity, finishing with 232 yards on 16 of 28 passing and a pair of touchdowns with no interceptions. The Ravens defensive reserves did their part by holding the Falcons to just 175 yards of total offense.
Despite the lackluster effort, Falcons coach Mike Smith was nonplussed:
“You’ve got to understand in these games, you’re going to call things defensively and offensively to put players in certain situations to evaluate them. You’re not game-planning in a game like this. You’re going to put players in certain situations to see how they handle certain techniques and coverages.”
Falcon cornerback Chris Houston was a little more concerned after Beck abused the Atlanta defensive secondary all night:
“We’ve got to work on everybody getting to the ball. We’ve got to try to be more aggressive in our techniques. We made some plays tonight, but other than that, we still have a lot to work on as a defense.”
The Ravens will get the 2009 NFL regular season underway at home, hosting the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, September 13th. The Falcons, meanwhile, will welcome the Miami Dolphins to the Georgia Dome to get their campaign started. Baltimore will head west to San Diego for a game against the Chargers in week 2, while Atlanta will remain at home for a key NFC South matchup against the Carolina Panthers.

NY Jets rookie QB Mark Sanchez struggled early, though recovered to throw a TD before he left the game for the night. Despite the score, the Baltimore Ravens held on to defeat the Jets 24-23. The Jets scored a touchdown with :22 seconds remaining and could have tied the game, but was stopped on a two point conversion attempt. Baltimore improved to 2-0 on the NFL preseason while the Jets dropped to 0-2.
Sanchez was hit by Ray Lewis on his first drive and threw a bad pass that was intercepted and returned for a touchdown. After the game, he spoke of the play:
“Not obviously the way you want to start. I thought I was doing the right thing; I felt Ray come free on the right side from the protection. I was checking it down to the flat, perfect. Haloti just jumped right in front of the ball and made a really athletic play.”
Ravens defensive leader Ray Lewis said they exploited Sanchez’s inexperience:
“You put a young guy like Sanchez in there and you see our defense, it can be difficult. You saw his eyes get big, and he was jumping around in the pocket. Bottom line: We gave a lot of looks and disguises and we confused him a little bit.”
Sanchez agreed that it was a tough assignment:
“Oh, they were flying. They were flying around. You practice for it and you see it on film. These guys were doing it. You’re trying to keep one eye on Ed Reed and one eye on Ray Lewis and a D-lineman gets you.”
Jets head coach Rex Ryan was proud of how Sanchez handled the pressure:
“I’m proud of the way he responded. It ain’t going to be perfect; sometimes you have these type of nights. You’ve got to give credit where credit is due, and most of that goes to their defense.”
The Jets will get the NFL regular season underway on Sunday, September 13th as they travel to Houston to play the Texans. The Ravens will host the Kansas City Chiefs.
